Background
Social media becomes part of our life, and users use different social media for different purpose, like using instagram as a photo editing app and share along with friends, Tiktok as a video editing app to edit short videos easily, facebook as a diary and event management and orgnizing tool.

Under this productathon, we need to select an existing social media mobile app and design an experience within the in-app editor that could potentially boost interactions and engagement of the platform.

From the user's perspective

Olivia is a university student and avid social media user who mainly interacts with her friends and family through TikTok and Instagram. She is introverted and often keeps to herself online, only occasionally posting positive content to her close friends list on Instagram.

We discovered most ofthe users are care of how others think and comment on their social media profile and behaviours, which makes them want to present their "Best" image online, and it's a double edged sword for the users.

Problem

Problem #1
Lack of Trust
It is good to see the users' connections update on social media. However, users are to care of how their image and profile looks like on social, the over-exaggerated wordings, or the planned scene or photos are not showing their real life. Some user thinks it's more like platform to "Showing Off" instead of sharing or update their life.
Problem #2
Not a comfortable place to share thoughts
Since everyone are sharing their "best side" of their life, it may cause some users don't want to share or do any update on social media with the reason of what they care about their "Good Image" and may be compared with others by other users
These are the painpoints of why some users don't want to share much on social media, which also lead to a different level of mental issue to the users when they to care of other people judgement and their self-esteem when they face different judgement on social media. We concluded the following problem statement:

Now more than ever, social media users, especially millennials, feel pressured when posting to these platforms. People often only post their ‘best self’ which leads to feelings of inadequacy

We targetted to create a space that allows user to share their thoughts freely on social media, to aviod any curated or fake photos and text, and aim to let users receive more supports and feedback when they faced actual difficulties, or in their lowest point of their life, and enhnace users' mental health eventually.

Deliverables

The Product
Daily Prompt
User is prompted with a notification at a specific time period to post a photo to her pool of friends. Once user clicks the notification, It will guide him to his Daily camera, where the photo album feature is not allowed here. After he posted her moments, which then enable her to view friends daily and interact in this daily community, and the daily tap conveys the information about the Daily features.
